Transliteracy in practice

Abstract

Aids and challenges to transliteracy, as they arise from the study, are presented in this chapter. Support for the development of transliteracy capabilities is identified as a key area of interest and the rest of the chapter is devoted to transliteracy in formal and informal learning. A model called “transliteracy palettes,” comprised of an information and form palette, is presented as a tool to aid implementation of transliteracy in different learning contexts. Curriculum mapping is considered as a way of developing transliteracy across the curriculum. Pedagogies suitable for developing transliteracy are also discussed.
