The initial construction of a TP involves the manufacture of the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip and its integration within a platform. These stages will be considered in turn.
Manufacturing the TPM
The TPM must be manufactured according to the Trusted Computer Platform Alliance (TCPA) specification in order to have the functionality described in Part 2. A couple of functions are optional according to the specification. This section will first look at these options, and then consider the further steps of conformance evaluation, initialization, certification, and shipping that are required before the integration of a TPM into a computing platform is possible.
