LISTEN WITH STRUCTURE

One of the critical skills you’ll need to conduct a Truth Talk actually has nothing to do with talking; rather, it’s all about listening. Once you’ve set your goals, invited a dialogue, and created a Word Picture, you’re going to hit a point in the conversation where your truth partner will really start talking. People will share what’s going on inside their head, reveal their interpretations, reactions, and ends, and basically tell you everything you should know to engage them effectively. The catch is that if you don’t listen deeply, you’ll never get any of that information. And without listening, you won’t have a Truth Talk; you’ll just have a reciprocated diatribe.
