Chapter 7 the right way around the circle
In exploring the two directions you can choose to take your business around The Circle, I want to start with the right way. The true way. In my company, we made this the anti-clockwise direction because, even though it’s our recommended course, it remains the unconventional way in business. Going the right way around The Circle is like being the rebel army, not the incumbent government. You’ve gotta get used to going against the grain.
In explaining how The Circle works in the previous chapter, we’ve already explored together the knock-on effects of being purpose-driven. We’ve seen how each point on The Circle magnifies the value of the previous point, creating an amazing momentum that can make markets, build businesses and (hopefully) change the world, one capitalist outpost at a time.
So I’m going to keep this chapter short and sharp. And rather than repeat myself, I want to summarise the cycle of good that happens by being purpose-driven and move quickly on to the long-term impact.
it starts and ends with the truth
True Purpose is the starting point for going the right way around The Circle. Which, I believe, is the right way to approach a job, a career, owning your own business and life in general.
Because it’s all about telling the truth for the mutual benefit of all, as opposed to the one-sided pretence that’s the modus operandi for most businesses.
