Chapter 23 the circle as a compass

Once you’ve enunciated your True Purpose, The Circle can become like a magic compass that helps you stay on track towards what’s going to ultimately fulfil you as a human, and most likely bring financial reward as well.

This concept can be best illustrated by telling you the story of a very unusual business.

Californian Blake Mycoskie is a very driven entrepreneur. Before he even got out of his 20s he’d founded a door-to-door laundry business, an outdoor advertising company and an online driver’s education service. And sold them all for good money. He’d also competed in The Amazing Race, the TV show that takes couples on an incredible global journey of physical and mental challenges.

After all that he then decided to travel to Argentina to learn how to play polo. As you do. While there, Blake met a woman who provided free footwear to the poor in rural areas. Blake went along on one of her trips and was blown away. He didn’t realise a simple pair of shoes could make such a huge difference to the lives of the children of poor farmers.

In one village, Blake saw two boys who had only one pair of shoes between them. Which meant they had to take turns going to school, because students were required to have footwear. Giving that family a pair of shoes for each child triggered tears and hugs and immense gratitude.

Blake was so moved by the experience that he decided to use all his skills as an entrepreneur to pursue a different outcome. ...
