18Maintaining the Plan

Since few people can plan accurately, most of us should plan often. In fact, the best planning strategy is for teams to make new plans whenever their current plans are out of date. This chapter explains the nature of continuous planning and why teams need to periodically adjust and refine their plans.

This chapter assumes that the team members are doing a reasonable job of following their quality plans. If so, their plan data can be very helpful in determining project status and in understanding where and how to plan recovery actions.
