November 20, 1962, was the day before Thanksgiving and I had just gotten home for dinner. This was only a couple of years after I had left my first development job to join IBM. At my prior job, I had enjoyed designing complex military computer-communications systems, but had concluded that the future of the computer business was with IBM.
