In this chapter we are going to discuss ‘putting it up, and tearing it down’ – the techniques of safely erecting scenery and ‘striking’ and storing it afterwards.
As you would expect, most of the terms and techniques used in television and film are derived from the theater. There are variants between studios, but most of the practices are worldwide.

As far as scenic design is concerned, television studios can be divided into a series of distinct areas, although only larger studios are likely to have all of these features.
