Abacus. Flat slab at the top of a column, usually bolted on.
Achromatic. Lacking color. Neutral tonal values (white, grays, black) without distinct hue.
Acoustic flat. Flat designed specifically to absorb or reflect sound.
Act drop. In a theater a drape (often front stage) lowered between acts, usually to permit scene changes.
Acting area. The region within a setting in which performance/action takes place.
Action. General term for performance, movement. Usually begins on hand cue from floor manager (FM). (Cue can be taken from light cues, sound cues, action, monitor pictures.)
