To cover the wide range of uses for ultrasonic energy, the design of ultrasonic systems and of their applications involves the use of many equations. The most significant of these in ultrasonics is the general wave equation, to which many of the others are related. The derivation of the general wave equation and specific solutions are presented in this chapter.
