8.1 INTRODUCTION
Ultrasonic methods have been applied to nondestructive testing (NDT) and material characterization in numerous ways and are among the most important of the techniques used for inspecting metal products. The applications presented in this chapter are only representative. A more detailed presentation is beyond the scope of this book. However, applications and methods are presented in a manner intended to show what can be done using instrumentation that is readily available.
