Best Practices to Avoid Behavioral Bias

Introduction

In the prior chapters we outlined many of the biases that haunt us and their origins within the brain. Though the specter of biases cannot be completely exorcised from our minds, we can implement procedures to mitigate their pernicious influences upon our decisions. Up to this point, we have described specific remedies related to each bias that we have covered. In this final chapter we outline some suggested best practices and procedures to enhance the decision-making process by providing safeguards and analytical speed bumps that should reduce the distortions created by biases. Some of these ideas have been mentioned in prior chapters, but here we will attempt to tie it all together ...
