Digital Quality

This chapter is the first of three that are aimed at readers who want more details about the technical side of digital imaging technology. They represent a light skate over some very complex issues and the information they contain is not essential to the rest of this book. They can safely be left unread if you are interested only in what digital cameras can do rather than how they do those things. This chapter will concern itself chiefly with digital sensors themselves, although it will also touch on digital camera lenses and colour, which are covered in detail in the two chapters that follow.
