On the first evening of their holiday in Rome, Jo and Alex left their hotel to go out for dinner. They were waiting on the pavement for the light to change so that they could cross the street, when a man came up behind Alex. Jo froze as the man put his arm round Alex’s neck and with his other hand, pinned Alex’s arms to his sides. Quick as a flash, a young woman ran up, snatched Jo’s bag and, despite Alex’s struggle to free himself, grabbed Alex’s wallet from his pocket. The pair ran off and although Alex chased after them, the man and woman disappeared down a narrow side street.
