In the previous chapters, I explored what employee engagement is and is not, and what makes it unique from other valuable organizational and job constructs (e.g., performance, job satisfaction). The next logical question is, how do we foster or promote employees’ engagement?

There is no standard, off-the-shelf approach, because organizations are not all the same, industries vary, and people vary. That said, research and theory provide some guidance, as do some interventions applied in practice. I draw special attention on how employees regain engagement after experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic.
