4 Lamp Measurement and Characterization
4.1 Introduction
Despite being an intricately unique lighting technology, the LED lighting industry has made notable progress with respect to characterization of light properties in the last several years. However, due to a wide variety of configurations and applications of LED lamps and luminaires, their characterizations still lack completeness, standards, and specificity. In order to determine whether LED lamps are suitable for existing lighting applications, they must be carefully characterized to make meaningful comparisons with incumbent products.
