Part III concentrates on PKI deployment considerations in an enterprise context. In this chapter, we discuss several different business models that might drive the deployment of a PKI. Although this may not be an exhaustive list, we do concentrate on some of today's more prevalent business models, as evidenced by many of the PKI deployments around the globe.
Several initiatives are also designed to offer scalable interdomain trust paths between organizations. Because these initiatives may have an influence on the external communications business model described here, we also give a brief discussion regarding these initiatives.
