If we are to use our security awareness to protect ourselves, it helps to understand the objectives of the cyberattackers, and what they might want to accomplish against us personally or against our workplace. What is the value of hacking us? What is the value of hacking our workplace? This chapter considers cybersecurity attacks that may be common at work, at home, or on travel.

To consider those cyberattacks, this chapter describes what the attackers may be trying to do, how they attack, and how we can protect ourselves. This chapter also describes general techniques we can use to reduce the chance of our computers, devices, networks, or accounts being successfully hacked by cyberattackers.
