Basic Cisco Router Configuration
There are hundreds of different IOS elements that can be configured on a given router, all of which are fully documented by Cisco. To help you get started, IOS has the <setup> helper script. The problem with <setup> is that quite often, the setup configuration ends up being the production configuration, leaving the router only half configured and a potential security risk.
The goal of this section is to show you how to configure some of the basic Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols. The examples are structured so you can follow along on a router to get a feel for working with the command line.
