In Chapter 5, "WAN Internetworking Technologies," we examined the various signaling and framing protocols associated with the following:

  • Bell Labs/AT&T T-Carrier standard

  • Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN)

  • Packet-switched network technologies: Frame Relay, ATM, and SONET

Although some of these technologies have been implemented in certain examples in this book, no direct attention has been paid to IOS interface configuration steps needed to implement these transport protocols. This is the goal of this section. Although it is not possible to address all possible configuration options, the intent here is to provide you with some configuration examples to get you started.
