About the Author
Al Cordoba, MS, is the director of the SAS Center of Excellence at Truven Health Analytics. He has over 25 years of experience in designing, planning, implementing, and consulting in analytical projects. For 13 years he worked at SAS Institute, where he held several senior management positions and reported directly to the SAS chief executive and president, Dr. James Goodnight. Al has also worked for SPSS, Lockheed, Steptoe & Johnson, Chevy Chase Bank, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, and Qualex. During his professional life, he has consulted in many different firms worldwide including Inwi, Newegg.com, Orange, Cosmopolitan Casino, Venetian Macau, Telefonica, C&W, Entel PCS, Pemex, Petrobras, Shell Oil, Citibank, Banco Itau, numerous departments of the U.S. federal government, and several Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans.
He received a master’s of science in computer systems from the University of Maryland at College Park, a master’s of science in quantitative analysis from SUNY/Syracuse University at Syracuse (NY), and a bachelor’s of science in engineering from the National Universidad in Colombia.
