sequence diagram
A diagram that shows object interactions arranged in time sequence. In particular, it shows the objects participating in an interaction and the sequences of messages exchanged.

Semantics
A sequence diagram represents an interaction—a set of communications among objects arranged visually in time order. Unlike a communication diagram, a sequence diagram shows time sequences explicitly but does not include object relationships. It can exist in a descriptor form (describing all possible scenarios) and in an instance form (describing one actual scenario).
