Diversity

If only we could get a “do over” on corporate diversity and inclusion efforts. Research shows that most diversity and inclusion training efforts have failed. Progress toward advancing women and people of color has been extraordinarily slow, and we continue to witness discrimination against people for reasons including gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity, religion, physical attributes, age, and a host of other attributes.

Programs that have more success helping people to accept and embrace one another are those that seek to build community. In good communities we can see that variation in characteristics as an advantage. A Spanish speaker is an advantage, as is the wisdom of elders. We learn from those with ...
