Balance is one of the key elements of design. While there are many historic references that suggest ways to create balance, there are no fixed rules that will guarantee that a design feels balanced. Some references suggest developing a color scheme based on set proportions of complementary colors; others suggest selecting dominant, supporting, and accent colors.
