The eye and the brain are responsible for our perception of color
The eye is an approximately spherical structure whose primary function is to focus light on the back of the eye, known as the retina, where light-sensitive cells known as rods and cones are located. At the front of the eye, the cornea and the lens both act to provide focus. During normal levels of illumination (which we refer to as photopic vision), our color vision is mediated by three types of cone cells.
