Toast Notifications

Toast notifications, affectionately called this because they “pop up” like toast in a toaster, are the little messages in rectangles that appear in the corner of the screen. Creating and showing a toast notification has many parallels to creating and updating live tiles.

If your app uses toast notifications, don’t forget to set “Toast capable” to “Yes” in the package manifest!

This can be found on the Application tab in Visual Studio. If you do not set this to Yes, attempting to show a toast notification silently fails.
