11 Legal Content Use
If the previous chapters have demonstrated anything, it’s that content takes time, talent, and money to create. An individual, group of individuals, or company makes an investment in the form of time, money, and creativity to create content, whether it is text in an RSS feed or a beautifully produced video. In the United States (and in much of the rest of the world), that effort is rewarded with legal protections for the content. These protections give the creators the chance to profit from their work and the right to control (for the most part) who else can use the work, where, in what form, and for what level of compensation.
