Untangle's Captive Portal
Captive Portal is used to enforce users' authentication before they can use the Internet. This is helpful in many cases, as follows:
- To ensure that users read and accept the AUP before they can access the Internet
- To enforce different Internet usage policies based on the username and/or device type such as wireless connected devices, BYOD, and smartphones
Captive Portal can just be used for acknowledging users, or to enforce users' authentication. Captive Portal can authenticate users against the Untangle NGFW local directory, RADIUS servers, or Active Directory. The ability to authenticate users against RADIUS servers and Active Directory requires the usage of the Directory Connector application.
