SAP NETWEAVER JAVA AS

The SAP NetWeaver Application Server (NWAS) consists of two personalities or so-called engines. The two personalities are ABAP AS and JAVA AS, where AS means Application Server. In addition to this, SAP released various standalone engines, such as LiveCache and TREX, whereas others have been integrated in AS, such as IGS, ITS, and IPC.

The ABAP personality has been available for many years. The Java personality is quite new to most of us. The NetWeaver Java AS is a follow-up development of the In-Q-My Java application server that was introduced by SAP in version 6.20.
