Chapter 2 Growth and Development
In this chapter, we look at the difference between growth and development and why that distinction is crucial to effectively addressing wealth inequality. We also investigate the importance of the link between economic development and community. After clarifying definitions, we first look at some ways of thinking about business development that flesh out the distinction between growth and development. Second, we apply those ideas to community economic development. Then we address the link between sophisticated business development and development of the larger community, which leads to a discussion of social entrepreneurship as an approach to address community economic development and wealth inequality.
