5. Selecting

This chapter gives you the hands-on experience with selection tools, as well as GIMP features that create specific effects on selections.

The number of tools provided in GIMP for various forms of selection can seem almost overwhelming at first. You had the opportunity in the preceding chapter to work with the Free Select tool, and you’ve used the Fuzzy Select tool on a number of occasions as part of the process of making a drawing’s background transparent.

Now you’ll have the opportunity to work more in depth with a much wider variety of selection methods, using the right tool for the right job and understanding why so many different selection tools are available in GIMP.
