8.7 Data Set Analysis reports
Data Set Analysis reports list the data sets used by this job, their attributes, how they were
accessed and any EXCPs that occurred while accessing the file. They can be used to tune
file accesses.
Data Set Analysis reports are not created by default. The information for this report is only
collected if the information was asked for on the Default Samples panel or on another similar
place (for example, the Analyze a Specified Job Panel). Data Set Analysis reports are
available if a pale blue YES appears under the Dsn Rpts heading on the Active Monitor
Sessions panel.
To view the Data Set Analysis report, place the cursor on the word Yes and press the Enter
key as shown in Figure 8-18.

To return from the report, press F3 (end).
At this point we can press F3 all the way back out to the primary panel. In the case of this job,
the job we were monitoring finished long before we completed our analysis. This was no
problem for Application Monitor, it simply let us complete our analysis and, as usual, asked us
if we wished to save the history file on the way out. If the job completes running while you are
analyzing it, the sample count will stop going up.
