Many of the items we’ll be discussing in this chapter we’ve already mentioned very briefly – lower implementation costs, higher levels of collaboration, etc. The considerations discussed so far provide a great start to defining why organizations should or should not consider OSBI offerings and which types of solutions might best meet the daily challenges of the business. This chapter takes things one step further. Although project sponsorship can come from different areas within the organization, the increasing role of commercial offerings, self-service BI, and broader access to analytics makes business involvement in BI projects more pronounced.
