In this chapter, we’re going to layer on some fundamentals about how the language of media creation developed into the lexicon of shots we use to construct our projects. You have to know where you came from to know where you are and get to where you want to go.
Once we cover that, we’ll present the process you will follow as you investigate and research whatever will make your project leap off the page because of its technical, historical, and emotional authenticity.
This chapter also explains how to draft the technical, yet sublimely artistic, documents that serve as the blueprints for the structure you are about to build: your project.
