The areas of application of video become daily more diverse. Even the underground current of video includes a range of practices (1) that it would be difficult at the present time to reduce to a few formulas. Our conversations with various practitioners, although they cannot cover all this variety, will at least enable us to stake out some guidelines for an eventual typology of videologists.

We shall provisionally define the videologist as the actor who, in working with video, resituates his action, continuously or intermittently, in response to existential, social, or cultural considerations, that is to say in relation to a socio-logic.
