You can easily drown in the search for the perfect technical solution, leaving no time to plan and prepare your session or even learn the new platform. We believe virtual facilitation is about humanising the virtual space, not about the technology itself. Our suggestion is to select one that you know works and learn how to get the best out of it. In addition, you can use smaller user-friendly interaction tools if they are not already part of your platform (such as menti.com).

Removing the entry barrier

The reason why we recommend using technology that you already have and know is twofold. The first reason is that you need to master the technology yourself. It is simply easier to learn if you stick to one core platform. The second reason is that this removes what we call the entry barrier for your participants. The entry barrier means that new tools take energy to learn. When you want to introduce your employees to something new, you'll often see many of them shying away and saying, ‘I don't know it, I don't like it.’ Minimising the entry barrier is key to making sure you don't lose people at this early stage.

This is why we strongly recommend using tech that you already have in place. Often there will be more possibilities within your existing platform than you know.
