About the Author

William Sims Bainbridge earned a doctorate from Harvard University in sociology and related fields, with a dissertation on the history of the space program, which was published as his first book. Altogether, he has written 30 academic books and about 300 articles or book chapters in areas such as technological innovation, social movements, and modern culture. He has edited two encyclopedias, one on human–computer interaction and the other on leadership in science and technology.
