Epilogue
In 2013’s The Virtual Training Guidebook, I predicted three trends for the future of virtual training: MOOCs (or massive open online courses), mobile, and microbursts. Four years is practically a lifetime in technology, so it’s time to revisit each trend to see how it has evolved and its influence on virtual training. In addition, two more significant trends have recently appeared, so I’ve added them to the list for consideration.
In short, the five trends to watch are:
• MOOCs (and virtual learning environments, or VLEs)
• mobile
• microbursts
• modern
• metrics.
