Memory, like the central processing unit (CPU), is a crucial part of the virtual machine. Unlike the CPU, memory is usually the resource that is consumed the fastest. Hypervisors abstract memory by handling data blocks between the server's physical memory and what has been allocated to the virtual machines. The management of memory resources by both the hypervisor and the administrator is important for effective use of the physical resources.
