IIS Performance
Unlike other applications where you may have specific performance characteristics, the resources used by IIS will vary greatly depending on how the website or application is developed. In the absence of clear hardware requirements, we recommend one of the following two options:
- Use the Windows 2008 Server minimum hardware requirements at www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/WS08-system-requirements.aspx as the base, and tune the resources based on your workload.
- Use generally recommended settings based on the IIS 7.0 Administrator’s Pocket Consultant publication from Microsoft Press at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc268240.aspx as the base, and tune the resources based on your workload.
