Controls are a necessary party of user interface development, especially if you are developing Windows applications. In this chapter we explain what a control is, how controls are used, a common set of controls provided by the .NET Framework, and how you would go about creating your own controls.

The focus is on controls used by Windows applications. Specifically, the controls provided in the System.Windows.Forms namespace.
