Although Illustrator objects are described and stored as mathematical commands, when they’re printed, they’re rendered as dots. The higher the resolution of the output device, the more smoothly and sharply lines, curves, gradients, and continuous-tone images are rendered. In this chapter you’ll learn to print a document on a PostScript black-and-white or composite color printer; tile an oversized document; create printer’s marks, crop marks, and bleeds; print color separations; choose flatness settings; download fonts; print to a PostScript file; print using color management; and create and edit presets—among other topics.
