Chapter 7. Printing, Scanning, and Faxing
In Windows, the operating system handles printing—not individual programs. When you print something in any program, you activate Windows’ intermediary printing system, which accepts print jobs from programs and feeds them to the printer. This process, called background printing, lets you keep working in your program while your documents print.
Printer installation and configuration are easy. After hardware connection and setup, you can print individual documents with the default settings or override them for special purposes.
