20.1 Introduction
Interactive visualization is qualitatively different from generating images or sequences of images in batch mode; it provides a smooth, user-in-the-loop visualization process. This interactive process helps to deal with the challenging problem of finding the interesting aspects of some data through manipulations of a large space of visualization parameters. As the user changes visualization parameters, he or she sees immediate feedback, which guides further adjustments.
