Visuals are created for a multitude of purposes in many disciplines. Their development is intertwined with the different problems they attempt to address (Beniger & Robyn, 1978; Friendly & Denis, 2001), and their effects in society (Mitchell, 1994) and in organizations (Meyer et al., 2013).
