Chapter 10. Virtual Machines
All the previous chapters have dealt with VMware ESX Server as opposed to virtual machines (VMs). To get to this stage, an understanding of datastores, virtual networking, security, and the hardware is required, which the previous chapters provided. Now we can build on our knowledge and add in some VMs.

The next step in our progression is to understand what makes up a VM before we start to create them. In essence, what makes up the VM dictates what operating systems and devices the OS can access. As an example, the wrong choice of SCSI adapter could make it very difficult to install or even run Windows XP.
