For the DNS relay service to start on the NSX ESG, at least one internal interface must be configured to service DNS requests on. The DNS relay service will only service requests on internal interfaces.
To check whether the service has started, SSH onto the NSX ESG and execute the following command:
show service-monitor summary
The bind9 service is the service we want to ensure is in the Running state.
To verify the contents of the cache, the following commands can be executed on the NSX ESG for further diagnostic information:
show service dns cache show service dns zones
