Chapter 10. Managing Networking

This chapter introduces the networking aspect of the HostSystem. It first introduces several key concepts, including the virtual switch, port group, and virtual network interface card (NIC), which are the virtual counterparts to the equivalent physical gears. It then examines the HostNetworkSystem, which is the key managed object for various management tasks, such as adding new virtual switches, defining network policies, changing different configuration parameters, and so on.

After that, this chapter discusses the management of the SNMP system, firewall, network services, and VMotion networks.
