Chapter 5. Securing Your Virtual Environment

You might be tempted to skip over this chapter and start populating your new virtual environment instead. Although ESX is fairly secure out of the box, it is important that you understand what makes it secure and the various configuration settings that can change its security. If you do not, you may inadvertently change a setting that decreases the security of your host and its VMs. Security is amplified in a virtual environment, where a single physical server is running many virtual servers and inadequate security on the physical server can directly affect the security of all the virtual servers running on that host.
