Enabling vSphere HA on a cluster
vSphere HA is not enabled by default on a host cluster. It has to be manually enabled. In this recipe, we will understand the requirements of a HA cluster, how it is enabled, and how it works.
Getting ready
Since vSphere HA is enabled at the cluster level, you will need access to a vCenter Server using vSphere Web Client or the vSphere Client to accomplish the configuration. Although there is nothing more you would need to enable HA, it is important to make sure that the ESXi hosts participating in a HA cluster:
- Have access to the same shared storage
- Have access to the same virtual machine networks
- Have CPUs from the same family and feature set
